Top 10 Foods With Misleading Names


1. Danish Pastry - This food does not come from Denmark at all.

2. Gunpowder Tea - This is a Green Tea from the Guangdong province of China. It does not contain gunpowder.

3. Sweetbread - This is neither sweet, nor bread. It is a dish made up of the pancreas of a calf or lamb.

4. Toad In The Hole - This does not contain toads. It is a traditional British dish made of sausage cooked in Yorkshire Pudding.

5. Beaver Tail - It contains no meat, beaver or otherwise. It is a type of sweet bread formed to the shape of a beaver tail.

6. Burritos - In Spanish means donkey.  Burritos are a rolled flour tortillas filled with meat, beans, rice and/or other ingredients.

7. German chocolate cake - It is not a German torte but a wholly American layer cake deriving its name from Sam German, who invented the sweet baking chocolate German's Baker's chocolate in 1852.

8. Rocky Mountain oysters - This dish contains no oysters. They are calf's or bull's testicles, which some people consider to be a delicacy.

9. Long Island Iced Tea has no tea in it.

10. Lion's head - This is another Chinese pork recipe. It is made up of pork meatballs and is usually cooked in a clay pot or in a wok.
